In general, compliance means conforming to a rule, such as a specification, policy, standard or law. Regulatory compliance describes the goal that organizations aspire to achieve in their efforts to ensure that they are aware of and take steps to comply with relevant laws and regulations. When it comes to a business and corporate management, compliance refers to the company obeying all of the legal laws and regulations in regards to how they manage the business, their staff, and their treatment towards their consumers. Patients should be informed what they could reasonably expect while visiting or admitted in the hospital. This information on the rights is:

  • To empower people to feel more confident in the health care system and take an active role in improving their health,
  • To strengthen the relationships people have with their health care providers
  • To establish patients’ rights in dealing with insurance companies and other specific situations related to health coverage.

Minister Lee brings Clarity on Generic Drugs

Minister of Public Health, Social Development & Labor Emil  Lee stated that during a recent radio interview, an impression was created  by the host that the use of Generic drugs are less effective, and he wanted to bring clarity on that topic. During Wednesday’s Council of Ministers Press briefing, he stated that by creating the impression that Generic drugs are less effective, it is doing a disservice to our community.

Ministry VSA, Inspector General and SZV agree to review medical referral process

In order to establish a baseline and an improvement plan where needed, the Inspectorate for health care has been requested to review the referral process of SZV and prepare a report in collaboration with SZV.  This will result in an action plan to improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the entire medical referral process.
